For Dean Schwade, farming has always been a family business. But as the Schwade family’s operation grew, so did the demands of managing their grain handling system.

Based in Lime Springs, Iowa, Dean farms alongside his father, continuing a family operation that began after the Schwades’ experience working on a grain elevator. As their operation expanded, Dean knew they needed a system that could keep pace.

Before the new system, the Schwade family had to make multiple trips into town to weigh their grain, which slowed down their operation and made the process less efficient. Dean also felt like someone needed to be on-site at all times to monitor the facility.

“We wanted something that was built well, easy to use, and low maintenance,” said Dean.

The Schwade family knew Sukup was the right fit for their operation because of the quality of its products, particularly the mixed-flow dryers. The family also appreciated the ability to control and monitor the system from their cell phones. With this new technology, Dean can check on the bins and monitor the operation even when he isn't on-site.

Today, Dean and his father can spend less time worrying about the logistics of their grain handling operation and more time doing what they set out to do: farming. With the ability to monitor their system from virtually anywhere, Dean feels confident the Schwade family’s operation is ready for whatever comes next.
