Family is InGrained in Sukup: The Hellman Family

As a family-owned and operated manufacturer, family will always be Sukup Manufacturing Co.’s top priority. We have great respect for the father and son relationship. Steve Sukup and Charles Sukup joined their father, Eugene Sukup years ago at the manufacturing company in Sheffield. They have worked alongside their family to keep the comradery alive.

Today we introduce a father son duo that has also been a part of the Sukup family for years. Greg Hellman started working for the manufacturer in 2005 and has been a part of the team for almost 18 years. Greg says, “Family is very important to me, just the comradery and the friendships that are developed, family really does explain what Sukup Manufacturing all is about.” We are proud to have so many individuals that have committed their time to Sukup, and even more proud to see the next generations of these families come and join, as well. With three generations of the Sukup family active in the company, we also enjoy seeing this in our employees.

Greg’s son, Garth Hellman started working at Sukup in 2011 for the load crew, and once he finished school at Iowa State University he came back and has since worked in the Supply Chain Department. The Hellman’s are especially known for their large family, and Garth and his wife decided to keep that tradition alive. Garth says, “We knew we wanted a big family, if the Lord should provide that for us. So, over the last seven years life has been very busy on the home front.” They are blessed with six wonderful children, and Garth has been thankful that he is allowed the flexibility from his job to be present in his children’s lives. Ever since covid he has made it a tradition to be there for his children’s birthdays, and with six kids that is not easy, but he makes it a priority. “To be able to be part of that special day with them and come to the office a couple hours late, that's been a joy.” Greg and Garth have seen and experienced the benefits of working for a family-owned and operated company. It is important to us that our employees can put family first, and we are glad that we can do that for our team.
