Kerry Hartwig of Sukup Manufacturing Co. joined The Big Show and shared the challenges of grain drying and storage after an unusually dry harvest season. Many farmers saw grain coming out of the field well below 15% moisture, even as low as 9-10%, which leads to phantom yield loss and financial drawbacks.
Hartwig emphasized that grain dryers help extend the harvest window, allowing farmers to harvest at higher moisture levels (18-20%), reducing field losses and improving profitability. He also highlighted the importance of grain management seminars Sukup has been hosting, educating farmers on proper airflow, bin aeration, and safe storage practices.
A major focus at the booth was SYNK, an advanced grain monitoring system that provides real-time data on grain conditions, including temperature and CO2 levels. This early warning system helps prevent spoilage before it becomes a costly issue.
With Sukup’s innovative dryers and cutting-edge grain management technology, farmers can maximize yields, improve safety, and optimize grain quality.
